Days/Hours:  ­­­­ 190 Days / 7.5 Hours per day 

 

Applicant must have a 4-year degree. 

 

The Middle Level At-Risk Facilitator must have either received or be willing to receive CPI training.   

 

General Statement of Job

The candidate will report to the assigned school’s Principal.  They will have the responsibility to accomplish assigned duties within district policies, state laws and regulations, and federal laws and regulations as related to the school’s purpose, classroom function, and contact with students and parents.  The candidate will ascribe to the philosophy that all children can succeed and demonstrate the commitment to do what is necessary to make this a reality.

 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Help to identify and support students who meet SDPC criteria as At-Risk
  • Serve as a liaison between At-Risk students and the Faculty/Staff.
  • Serve as a member of the the At-Risk Leadership team.
  • Provide academic support to students as needed throughout the school year through assigned Related Arts class periods or through intermittent visits during Related Arts class periods.
  • Facilitate students assigned either to the at-risk or SparkForward program during several classes in conjunction with the business education teacher and academic recovery teacher.
  • Organize and implement a quarterly remediation program that provides students earning a failing grade in a core content course the opportunity to pull earned grades to a 60 using Odysseyware or coordinating teacher-made remediation as defined by SDPC Remediation Policy. This opportunity will be organized through Related Arts courses primarily. 
  • Serve as a contact for Odysseyware implementation on campus and work closely with the academic recovery teacher.
  • Participate in conferences with At-Risk students to help provide input on their progress on campus as well as meet the needs of parents related to assisting and helping.
  • Serve on a committee that helps students who are returning to Pickens Middle from Project GO (Alternative Program) to assimilate back into a less structured environment and serve as a mentor for them once back on campus.
  • Work with the business education teacher to coordinate entrepreneurship activities in the Spark Forward program.
  • Work with Administration to facilitate the Intramural program at Pickens Middle by planning athletic competitions during lunch by which students can experience success throughout the school year. Public brackets will be used to keep track of the schedule and results.

 

Qualifications

  • A four-year degree is required.  It is recommended that the at-risk facilitator has a college degree and experience working with at-risk students, preferably at the middle level. 
  • The Middle Level At-Risk Facilitator must have either received or be willing to receive CPI training.   

 

Additional Items

  • Willingness to attain a CDL for trips to various college and career campuses would be encouraged. 

 

All candidates must be able to pass an extensive background investigation before being hired.
